Optimizing Cloud Ops with Automation
About the Customer
A UK-based tools supplier sought to modernize its Hosting and Cloud Operations. Having migrated to AWS, the customer is focused on improving service maturity, strengthening operational governance, and driving automation-led efficiencies across its infrastructure landscape.
Background
The customer required an experienced partner to manage its end-to-end cloud and hosting operations after moving to AWS. They were looking to mature their service delivery model through automation, standardization, and operational visibility. One of the major challenges was the presence of 1,500+ unused snapshots consuming ~844 TB of storage, resulting in unnecessary cloud spend and operational overhead.
Solution
DigitalXC deployed a holistic automation framework anchored on a templatized provisioning model for cloud resources, ensuring consistent, compliant, and rapid delivery across environments. A comprehensive unused-snapshot cleanup automation was implemented, generating recurring annual savings while restoring storage hygiene across the AWS estate. Self-heal capabilities were introduced to proactively resolve frequent system faults, while PKI and certificate renewals were fully automated to eliminate manual effort and compliance risk. The entire automation ecosystem was tightly integrated with customers ITSM solution, enabling closed-loop execution, accurate reporting, and a scalable foundation for cloud operations maturity. The initiative also leveraged an EB-driven automation report that successfully identified and removed 600+ TB of redundant data.
